/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

I have this old edit too, but I like yours better.

"You want to join the surface team?"

"Uhhh, no. I'm fine here working on the food-o-matic. Thanks."

What is wrong with becoming a transporter clone so that a nearly infinite supply of ~~Ensign Kims~~ you can serve your glorious overlords by dying over and over again... - uh, I mean, "go get coffee" - until the sweet release of ultimate death?

Pro-Tip: did you know that deactivation and reactivation of a holographic lifeform is basically akin to death and reincarnation? Each time they are shut off, they really have no clue if this time will be their last...

The Doctor once said he goes to a void when he is deactivated. My head canon is that he goes to the same void as Janet from The Good Place and they hang out. Or maybe it's Derek's void he ends up in.

Edit: DEREK!

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 3 points 10 hours ago

Having to hang out with Derek - it's so much worse than The Bad Place!!

Does Janet go to the void when she is killed?

Derek needs to be uncreated.

Janet isn't "alive" (She is an anthropomorphized vessel of knowledge) so I don't think she can die in the real sense, even when she is murdered and updates. She can be marble-ized but that's not really the same thing since it's reversible. It's more like a low power mode for her.

She can be killed by the big red button. She announced that someone killed her over the PA when she got killed. I forgot what happened immediately after that though. I thought the marble thing was irreversible. They marbleized and ate Bad Janet didn't they?

[–] teft@lemmy.world 6 points 23 hours ago

Even though she says she's been murdered it's really just a reboot and update.

As for the marbleization it's reversible. In season 4 Bad Janet marbleized our good Janet. Later after being transported to The Bad Place, Bad Janet un-marbleized Janet.

Janet falls down and then raises back without memory when she is killed.

In the end, Derek is by far the most advanced not-a-computer thingy in the entire Creation. With a more advanced understanding of well, everything than even the Judge could grasp. Why would you want to uncreate him?

I suppose it is better than "have you thought about nourishing the next generation? give us a call here at soylent"

Holy tribbles, you're not kidding - this is a real billboard from Independent Health! They literally have their Medicare rep wearing the red uniform while telling seniors to "Retire the RedShirt Way." And that 5-star rating just makes it chef's kiss perfect!

This is the most brilliantly dark healthcare advertising I've ever seen... Live long and... maybe not prosper? 🖖

Live short and pass along your money.

So that's why it happens in the future the evil corp we have now instilled it into humans so much it happens regularly in the future of the Federation wow!

[–] nesc@lemmy.cafe 1 points 1 day ago

They are playing the long game here. Literal mind virus.

"Retire"

Do these marketers just try to slip stuff like this past their clients, just to see what they'll sign off?

Yeah, that lady is 100% going to show up at when you absolutely most expect it, and kill you in the most incredibly predictable way you can imagine.

Don't eat random plants.

[–] nesc@lemmy.cafe 5 points 1 day ago

It is simple retirement.
