“Sorry, I can’t invite you to my wedding because you use Android.”

Guests can view and respond to an invitation using the new iPhone app or on the web without needing an iCloud+ subscription or an Apple Account.

We have the web for that!

I sent my wife a test invite. It’s really cool and beats the hell out of making a new group text for every event to see if people want to come and hound them for answers.

No thanks, I’ll stick with Evite which works with everything and doesn’t need a subscription.

What happened to texting, emailing, or calling people?

[–] deegeese@sopuli.xyz 1 points 10 months ago

Evite does 2 out of those three. Your grandma with a land line you’ll still have to call.

Do you suspect anyone will sign up for iCloud just for this feature? Neither do I.

With Apple Invites, users can create and easily share invitations, RSVP, contribute to Shared Albums, and engage with Apple Music playlists.

This is actually really awesome. Simplifying the shared album process on its own is super helpful and helps illustrate to me why this is separate from the Calendar app.

Can I also invite people from none iOS devices without apple account?

I wonder how long it will take until it's shut down by the Apple morality police due to being used for porn.
