As I've suggested for awhile, there is a worsening of the Russian KIA vs. WIA ratio, due to a lack & systemic breakdown of medical evac, the people and armored vehicles required to do it, wounded not being sent to hospitals, as they go AWOL, used instead in wave assaults, increasing drones w/ multiple strikes on target, etc.

Telenko puts the current KIA vs. WIA ratio as MUCH worse than WW1 levels, with herds of PIGS having learned, Pavlovian-style, that if they hear FPVs, that means food.

Holy crap. No dystopian science fiction ever came up with that.

[–] makyo@lemmy.world 41 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Jesus fuck I never would have guessed this meant actual pigs

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago (3 children)

I guess you never watched "Deadwood"?

I think I started it but it didn't stick for whatever reason

The 30-50 feral hogs have gone to war and have received military training. America is not ready for their return.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Trump will certainly lift Assault Rifle bans, 'murica is saved!

[–] Notyou@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 months ago

Cody needs to do another feral hog episode, doesn't he? We already had swimming and teleporting pigs and now we are getting combat hogs. The revolution will not be televised.

Jesus fucking Christ if those numbers are close to reality that’s fucking horrific. Fuck rich men and fuck their stupid petty wars. Leave Agamemnon to cry in his fucking tent on his own and go to the beach fuck.

One can only hope that the war ends in Russia's defeat to stop the senseless loss of lives for the ego of a fat, old man.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Putin's not fat though?

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 27 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Do you want man-eating pigs? Because that's how you get man-eating pigs!

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 31 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Pretty much any pig is a man eating pig, from my understanding. They've been used to dispose of bodies before.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Yes I was making the joke that they would actually be hunting humans for food.

[–] CheeseNoodle@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Would not be surprised if some of those bodies of russian soldiers weren't quite corpses yet by the time the pigs got to them.

[–] Iceblade02@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Of all the horrid ways to go, this has got to be near the top. Eaten alive by pigs after being abducted by Putins goons and dumped on the battlefield to die with a gun.

[–] Beldarofremulak@discuss.online 0 points 2 months ago (2 children)

We need disclaimers and tags to receive humor. Without those everything must be interpreted as negative-serious and most importantly malicious. For joking you would use /j and serious /s

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

Sentence structure sometimes is obvious. "You want ___. Because this is how you get ___" is a known gag format.

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

Important note: It's pronounced "tin-ih-tus," not "tin-eye-tis." I assume the resemblance to the common medical suffix "-itis," meaning "inflammation of," is the reason it's commonly mispronounced.

[–] Beldarofremulak@discuss.online -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

See, no tags. I can't tell if you are explaining something to me or calling me a moron so I have no choice but to assume you are trashing my existence

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 months ago (2 children)

When in doubt, be charitable. If you go around interpreting things uncharitably to get offended, you're gonna have a bad time.

[–] thebestaquaman@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

So much this! Life is a lot nicer if you always interpret what people say in the best possible way. Pretty much anything can be flipped to a positive if you try hard enough: "You're a moron" - "Oh, they're probably just making a joke by exaggerating about something I did." - Suddenly you're neither offended nor hurt.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You do you mate, I'm just glad I don't have to interact with you on a regular basis πŸ˜…

[–] thebestaquaman@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Hehe, I try not to come off as overly naive (I've been called naive in the sense that someone can do / say something that was clearly intended to hurt me, but which I refuse to acknowledge as such), but I honestly feel like it makes my life more enjoyable when I can go through it convincing myself that more or less everyone is doing their best to be nice, and that if they come off as rude or mean, it's probably just me misinterpreting them, or them making a mistake (e.g. "Obviously that guy didn't mean to shoulder-check me, he probably just wasn't paying attention to where he was walking.")

[–] Beldarofremulak@discuss.online 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I can see my lampooning of the sarcasm tags backfired and my sarcasm was taken seriously because I didn't use tags.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago

Adding sarcasm tags wouldn't make any sense

[–] Live_your_lives@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

When did /s change from sarcasm to serious, or is your post a joke itself?

[–] Beldarofremulak@discuss.online 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Yeah that's the joke. Apparently it's 4D. Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

[–] rockerface@lemm.ee 4 points 2 months ago

Pigs are very much omnivores, indeed

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 2 points 2 months ago

Hence the term 'as greedy as a pig'.

Isn't this gonna fuck up the expected new sunflower fields?

[–] Dkarma@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

With pig shit fertilizer? No?

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Won't they eat and destroy the seeds?

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Orcs are more nutritious than seeds. Or actually not, but it's easier to gorge on orc flesh.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

also some seeds survive digestion and thus spread

Ya, definitely. In my mind they were already shelled, but that doesn't make sense. With the shell on it might survive.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 3 points 2 months ago

Guess the russians are learning what a nemesis is

[–] 5714@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 months ago (5 children)

Is that a decision on the Russian side or does the nature of the war not permit medevac?

[–] Hubi@feddit.org 38 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Anecdotal, but I have seen videos of Ukrainian soldiers evacuating their wounded and even Russian POWs while under active shelling. In one helmet cam video they entered a burning and partially collapsed building under artillery fire to dig a squad member out from under the rubble.

On the other hand, I've seen more than one instance of Russians throwing their own wounded out of moving vehicles to go faster or just straight up shooting each other after an injury.

It essentially boils down to the motivations and relationships within UA's and RU's armies and not to the nature of this war.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

I did see more videos of Russians carrying litters in the early stages of the war. Unfortunately that video was recorded from a dropper drone so...

And also the fpv threat is so huge on the front line that nearly every Russian I've seen try to render aid gets hit by a followup drone. And that's to say nothing about evac logistics.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 28 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Seems deliberate. Russia does not value soldier's lives. As the OP said, they had better WIA evac in friggin' WW1! Certainly, if it was just the nature of the war, Ukraine would be sporting similar numbers.

[–] Cephalotrocity@biglemmowski.win 12 points 2 months ago

Orcs cost rubles, the dead cost nothing.

[–] 5190tent@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

I think it's the (fear of) drones. Most russian troops don't have any effective detection or countermeasures against them. Artillery hits are often followed up by drone attacks and Ukrainian infantry also heavily relies on reconnaissance and support from drones.

There are so many videos from the early stages of the war starting with a single russian soldier getting wounded by artillery, a drone grenade, mine or sniper. Attempts to rescue them then lead to more and more drone casualties. Getting stuck in this situation then makes it a matter of time before artillery, more drones, or Ukrainian ground troops show up to finish the job.

The result are panicked retreats where everyone tries to save themselves. The general lack of training and resources probably doesn't help either.

[–] MrMakabar@slrpnk.net 4 points 2 months ago

Just because a soldier ist dead, does not mean he does not recieve pay....

[–] Taser@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 months ago

Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake series has entered the chat.

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

So, pigs eat humans? I had no idea it went both ways.
