Okay honestly though I’ve always thought it was kinda fucked up that people just read this poor little girl’s private diary

The unedited version after they decided the version her dad put out wasn't salacious enough

Literally nothing is safe from the Onion. It's literally America's Finest News Source (TM)

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Lol the onion runs the same article every time a mass shooting happens. And these people are upset that they’re taking the most milquetoast shot at a guy with power and influence. 1 Zelensky is worth 500 mass shooting victims. I don’t make the rules.

If The Onion did the same thing but the article is about Putin saying “it was avoidable” after every brutal bombing of civilians, these people would genuinely think they’re pro-Putin and threaten to kill the writers

Yeah it's an old 4chan/incel naming convention. It needs to go.

I'm honestly shocked it's still allowed considering more innocuous stuff is banned on here.

I was thinking of legitimate oids and found myself looking up celluloid and cellulose. Here's the medium for an art form that changed the world and its name still describes it as somewhat like something else. Then again, the something else is used in paper manufacturing and things written on paper have had impacts on human history as well, so the name actually became more apt when celluloid's utility in photography became apparent.

But I'd be OK with a ban on oid suffixes for people.

When did the libs start calling this a genocidal war exactly? Is it like recently or have I just been ignoring them

[–] cecinestpasunbot@lemmy.ml 24 points 2 years ago

It started pretty early into the war after Ukraine accused Russia of massacring civilians. They also willfully misinterpret Russian propaganda, which questions the legitimacy of the Ukrainian state, as a genocidal threat. There’s also the thing about orphans in Russian occupied areas getting adopted by Russians.

I wonder how they reacted to this Onion article

Here’s the direct link to the Onion article if you don’t want to read the lib comments: https://www.theonion.com/zelensky-grabs-whatever-office-supplies-he-can-get-hand-1850861718

it's a fanatic for north Atlantic treaty organisation (NATO) they use the incarnation of a upright dog (the shiba doge meme) for their representation, and call themselves "fellas".

turning NATO into NAFO [F for fella]. so NAFOid is a play on words like humanoid. They basically run informational warfare for NATO, report on mass, dox etc.

some examples of their work is sabotaging the eco socialist dimitri lascaris in his attempts to form a peace talks in ukraine https://dimitrilascaris.org/2023/07/12/the-struggle-for-peace-is-a-struggle-for-free-speech/

Thanks! Googling isn't as helpful as just asking sometimes.
