Elon is a genius! He removed the bird, symbolizing the loss of freedom for its user and his company's inability to soar to great heights.

The bird leaving indicates an impeding catastrophe about to hit his company and the new symbol "X" is just as clever, because that's the sign people will click on when they go uninstall the app. Soon, the relationship between Twitter and its users will be nonexistent, just like Musk and his "X" wives

It's especially relevant when you consider the phrase "Canary in a coal mine", which literally and figuratively describes early warning of a problem.

I have no idea why CNN would do a news story on what amounts to a marketing gimmick from a website.

There’s no empty Trump or DeSantis podiums for them to air I guess

[-] NounsAndWords@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

Do you see all the engagement this post is getting? It's not just a marketing gimmick for Twitter...

[-] zombuey@lemmy.world 39 points 11 months ago

yes lets change the one thing twitter has left a recognizable brand

[-] ShakeThatYam@lemmy.world 27 points 11 months ago

Elon's obsession with "X" is the most cringe thing about him.

[-] macrocephalic@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

Not the most, just one of.

[-] Coffeemonkepants@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

I honestly think he desperately wanted to be a porn star or something. Like, he really is maniacally obsessed with 'x'. He's such a complete fucking tool.

[-] zeppo@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

“69” and “420” are up there too

[-] hansl@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

It’s gonna be a maze.

[-] Godnroc@lemmy.world 20 points 11 months ago

The canary is the first to go.

[-] dm_me_ur_cock@lemmynsfw.com 18 points 11 months ago

We really need a way to block by keywords. Elon Musk says is about as worthless as Donald Trump says.

[-] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

Could handle it xkcd style with a browser extension.

[-] NounsAndWords@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

I would say more actively harmful (since there's often some attempt at manipulation behind the words) than worthless.

  • wants to create a super app for everything

  • limits DMs because they can’t manage spam

He's changing it to a toilet, to match what most people call the platform these days.

I'm sure it was remarked upon at the time, but naming your company "X Corp" is the most lame comic book supervillain shit I've ever heard. Like not even main supervillain, but more like sub Hammer level. One of those bad guys who is always coming up with elaborate schemes for petty shit and getting his ass handed to him by tertiary level heroes.

[-] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

They're probably different enough to not get sued but I wouldn't want to risk Amazon getting litigious.

[-] zeppo@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

He’s also risking legal action from Microsoft (DirectX, Xbox), Apple (OS X), Google (skunkworks called Google X), Xvideos, Firaxis (XCOM) and Meta (owns a trademark on X in social media they bought from MS for what became Facebook Games) all at the same time.

[-] Bleach7297@lemmy.ca 4 points 11 months ago

A-well-a don't you know about the bird?

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Well everybody's talkin' about the bird!

[-] wargreymon@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Lets kill twitter by a boring ”X”

[-] ikilledlaurapalmer@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

So…birds aren’t real?

[-] eochaid@lemmy.world -2 points 11 months ago

Twitter? Doesn't ring a bell, sorry.
