Summary

Texas voters awarded Donald Trump the state’s 40 electoral votes, continuing its long-standing Republican streak since 1976. Gov. Greg Abbott celebrated the win, praising Trump as the candidate Texans trust to address issues like inflation and border security.

Texas, while not considered a swing state, has seen Democrats attempting to make inroads by mobilizing younger, diverse voters and appealing to moderates. However, Republicans have downplayed Democratic progress, pointing to recent substantial losses by high-profile Democratic candidates like Wendy Davis and Beto O'Rourke.

[-] ravhall@discuss.online 50 points 2 days ago

Well, Texas, enjoy what you get. Which is apparently just a lot of dead mothers.

[-] Bosht@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

I mean, all the primary city centers are blue. It's the fucking idiot rednecks that get their news through Fox or Facebook that voted red. If they even had Internet at all.

[-] ravhall@discuss.online 17 points 2 days ago

It’s unsurprising, but interesting

[-] LANIK2000@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Don't forget dead young and old from their grid!

[-] MrMcGasion@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

They actually recently (within the last few months) agreed to join a larger grid. So that should be a bit less of a problem this year. It is Texas though, so there's always the chance they turn around and shoot themselves in the foot.

[-] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

If Trump wins every state will be Texas

[-] whostosay@lemmy.world 33 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

What the fuck is wrong with you people? The vast majority of people here did the right thing and were repressed by gerrymandering and other shithole tactics.

Show some class and comradery, get mad at the people that did this and stop generalizing the people that live here because it's easy. People here are dying due to the bullshit Republicans have pulled. Be a better person and help.

[-] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

6.2 million people did the wrong fucking thing, 4.6 million did the right thing. i don't know where you're pulling this "vast majority are angels" bullshit from

[-] TexasDrunk@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago

The vast majority of people HERE. You're leaving out a key word.

[-] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

A lot of them thinking that Trump isn't meant to be taken literally, thus will look away at a lot of things.

[-] EbenezerScrew@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

Too much hate. Every cycle we can get closer. Don't make Texas feel left out.

[-] Leate_Wonceslace@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 2 days ago

I'm not surprised, but I am disappointed.

[-] simplejack@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

Mods might be trying to consolidate duplicate stories from multiple publications and or encouraging people to use the mega thread.

They’re probably trying to keep information consolidated and easy to parse.
