Summary

Thousands of Dubliners, drawn by a fake listing on an AI-generated website, gathered along O’Connell Street expecting a Halloween parade that never materialized. The My Spirit Halloween website, based in Pakistan, falsely advertised that the popular Macnas Halloween Parade would return, leading to crowds lining the streets from Parnell Street to Christchurch Cathedral. As confusion grew, the Gardaí were eventually forced to issue a message urging people to disperse safely. While some attendees found humor in the hoax, others, including Sinn Féin councillor Janice Boylan, expressed disappointment over the dashed hopes for a festive Halloween event.

It's going to be kind of funny if a hoax announcement winds up becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy.
