Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Only reason I imagine it didn't happen sooner is because they were under the radar. That site is cooked I cannot say this enough times

Literally all they post is cool marxist stuff. It's fascinating that they've been targeted.

If it really is russia that runs them then my suggestion to the russians is that they seek out western marxists who already run operations making and posting this content and drop money into those western marxists instead via several layers of obfuscation for deniability.

That'll actually get the feds knocking on our doors should anyone be dumb enough to accept foreign, or "foreign" (FBI entrapped) funding.

Trust me on this one, that is a very dangerous idea.

This is one of the examples listed in "Three Felonies a Day: How the Feds Target the Innocent" by Harvey Silvergate. If I remember right, it was a small church doing a fundraiser for someone sick in their congregation. Feds show up and arrest the people running the fundraiser. Turns out money from the Lord's Resistance Army (I think?) was donated to them.

Guess even warlords get the feels when they see Americans don't have health insurance. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We don't have to know about it. There's nothing stopping any actor from dropping funds into a patreon or liberapay through a series of shell companies and multiple accounts.

I would be surprised if several governments are not already doing this.

Lets just say that the cost-benefit analysis for such actions aren't worth it for either parties and would act as a poison pill for recipients and as a form of blowback for the donor. Anything that makes domestic communist movements even give off the whiff of being foreign-backed poisons whatever credibility they wish to establish.

I'm telling you this both out of historical precedent and from experience, seeking or accidentally receiving foreign funding of any sort is a bad idea for communists in the imperial core.

when and where?? and is there a dress code or just whatever looks cool?

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

In all seriousness, banks seem like a bad idea. Armoured cars though? They still seem vulnerable if you consider just how much of the security around them is theatre.

[–] PoY@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

i dunno tho.. they're armed aren't they?

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 2 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

So are the guards at the bank or the cops that show up within 5 minutes of the silent alarm being pulled.

I don't actually think it's that different today to what Stalin was doing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1907_Tiflis_bank_robbery

Can't wait until Matt Taibbi and Glenn Greenwald teams up with Elon Musk to solve this curious case!
