Yes the US should defederate from itself. In fact I think a perfect map of the US is broken down not by region or state, but by county. Break the US down into small bite sized chunks so that it has no choice but to fight amongst itself until the end of time

No we should keep our federal government. That said state lines are arbitrary and should be redrawn to balance the population. Honestly we could get away with 7 or less districts rather than 50 states.
