Girls?

Excuse me, I'm pretty sure I'm not a girl and I want it!

Pointlessly-gendered 16th century rings that unfold into an astronomical sphere.

OP says girls want it.

[–] Piemanding@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 years ago

Female, obviously.

[–] gibmiser@lemmy.world 24 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Fr. Someone start making reproductions

[–] Hubi@feddit.org 30 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I just checked and there are a ton. You can get one for like 3 bucks on Amazon.

[–] JimVanDeventer@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

These are 99¢ on AliExpress.

[–] S_H_K@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 2 years ago

There are some versions sold online for 90 dollars it seems. I'm totally sending this to my wife.

[–] yuri@pawb.social 1 points 2 years ago

and yet somehow bigots still demand proof that gender is a spectrum 💁💁💁

[–] halvar@lemm.ee 40 points 2 years ago

Biblically accurate ring.

[–] bleistift2@sopuli.xyz 30 points 2 years ago (2 children)

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] SturgiesYrFase@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 years ago

I can get behind that

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 28 points 2 years ago (4 children)

Cheese. Am girl, want cheese. Ring is interesting but not practical.

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The Complete Book of Magic and Witchcraft by Kathryn Paulsen, 1971

[–] Psionicsickness@reddthat.com 3 points 2 years ago

Just snagged a copy! Thanks!

Never tried impressing a girl by buying her a platter of mature cheddar

[–] IntheTreetop@lemm.ee 11 points 2 years ago

As someone with a wife from Wisconsin, it's highly effective.

[–] RoquetteQueen@sh.itjust.works 26 points 2 years ago

Actually, yeah, that would be really cool

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 21 points 2 years ago

Biblical accurate angel ring

[–] CryptoKitten@sh.itjust.works 19 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I bought an identical one on aliexpress for a few bucks and I wonder if it was a reproduction or if this is exactly the same thing portrayed as a 16th century ring. I think the later is most likely.

[–] feedum_sneedson@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Can you find out and get back to me please.

[–] lobut@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)
[–] waz@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

I bet the quality of this is also astronomical.

[–] SolarMonkey@slrpnk.net 17 points 2 years ago (2 children)

This is one of those awesome things that you’ll find in every size but the one you need. So you buy a size up and hope to find a use for it someday. But alas, you never do, and there it sits indefinitely, occasionally catching your interest and making you go “aww that was neat.. shame it didn’t fit”, until you die and it ends up at a thrift shop.

[–] yuri@pawb.social 3 points 2 years ago

nah babe, your knuckles keep getting bigger for like you’re entire life. rings are totally one of those things you can grow into!

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

Gold chain, now it's a necklace!

[–] wh0_cares@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Fuck, that looks like such a good fidget toy, I want it!

[–] IphtashuFitz@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

I’ve worn an 8 band puzzle ring for probably 40 years now (mine is silver, not gold) and it does indeed make a good fidget toy. Back in high school I taught myself to put it together behind my back, by feel only, when in school.

A friend of mine in college refused to let me show her how to put it together. It took her almost a full semester during a really boring class to figure it out herself.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 3 points 2 years ago

I mean, I'd lose it immediately, but I still want it

[–] androogee@midwest.social 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Not a ring, but if you have access to a 3d printer, I have one of these and I really like it

[–] eskimofry@lemm.ee 15 points 2 years ago (1 children)

But how do you avoid your fingers getting chopped off when it unfolds?

[–] ASDraptor@lemmy.autism.place 50 points 2 years ago

Some people report they prefer to take it off before unfolding it. But they are unverified reports so take this info with a grain of salt.

[–] chemicalwonka@discuss.tchncs.de 14 points 2 years ago

Don't be afraid

[–] VintageTech@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 years ago

You think I make "16th Century Jewelry" money??? I'm out here fightin' for my life.

[–] Javi_in_4k@lemm.ee 8 points 2 years ago

That's not an astronomical ring. Orbits are planar, so spherical

[–] KazuchijouNo@lemy.lol 7 points 2 years ago

Mine just wants a ring 🥴

[–] SuspiciousCatThing@pawb.social 6 points 2 years ago

I bought one of those from Wish years ago. Looked identical to that.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That's actually a massive ring... Like it would be very uncomfortable.

[–] BowtiesAreCool@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

How can you tell how big it is from the photo with nothing but the ring in it?

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago

thats just the wheel of power

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 4 points 2 years ago

I prefer mine that comes apart into a puzzle that you get to put back together before you can wear it again...
But like actually I love it so much.
