Welcome to Cyberpunk community!
(lemmy.zip)
Cyberpunk is a science-fiction sub-genre dealing with the integration of society and technology in dystopian settings. Often referred to as “low-life and high tech,” Cyberpunk stories deal with outsiders (punks) who fight against the oppressors in society (usually mega corporations that control everything) via technological means (cyber). If the punks aren’t actively fighting against a megacorp, they’re still dealing with living in a world completely dependent on high technology.

After lemmy.villa-straylight.social shut down I picked lemdro.id at random as my new instance. But it seems lemdro.id has trouble federating with this instance so my original reply to this post never sync'd. Now I've created a local account on lemmy.zip so hopefully my posts won't disappear.
Anyway, I'm the person who was trying to grow !cyberpunk@lemmy.villa-straylight.social with an attempt to post something every day, just to keep the community active. I was identity-disc on that instance. And I'm still bitter about the fact that the instance disappeared just as we hit 1.0k subscribers.
So now I'm trying to do the same thing here. Again, I'm trying to post something every day. Not every post will be gold but my goal is really just to show constant activity. I'm trying to post a mix of movies, anime, tv, games, whatever. And I'm trying not to re-use any old posts from villa-straylight.
One thing I don't care about is news articles. Or specifically, what I consider the articles that belong on r/aboringdystopia. I'm interested in cyberpunk as a genre, not the real world going to shit. So I might post news articles about upcoming games or movies but I'm not going to post news articles about whatever stupid thing Amazon did recently that feels dystopian.
@BrikoX@lemmy.zip, I assume you're good with this? I probably could've sent this as a private message but I might as well introduce myself at the same time with this post. And thanks for making this community!
Hey! Sorry to join this thread late, but I'm super glad to see you over here! I never knew why the other community died suddenly (didn't realize it was the instance itself) and I'm really glad you're still around and that there's a new cyberpunk spot to follow the old one
I'll try bringing over some of my previous book recs and maybe a couple panels of art from a rural cyberpunk comic I've been working on. Glad to have this community back
