Also interesting fact: communist resistance forces did partcicipated in the Warsaw Uprising, even though it was politically aimed against them, because they couldn't just stand aside where others were fighting the nazis. Something (standing aside) that AK had no problem whatsoever doing (AK had up to 390.000 members in summer 1944 of which only small fraction fought).
About not helping, Soviet Army just finished Operation Bagration, biggest offensive in human history up to this point. They were in no condition to suddenly assault major city defended by numerous and well dug in enemy forces.
Also, Germans had launched a successful counterattack against Soviet spearhead, stopping them short of Warsaw
As you can imagine, this isn't mentioned in Polish media.
