On a somewhat related note, I saw a post on reddit-logo the other day saying "it's better to die young and give your money to your children and grandchildren than have it drained by the healthcare and retirement system"

Except in the real world where non-lizardpeople live I'm certain most of us would rather have grandma as long as possible.

I agree that having grandma around for as long as possible is the preferred solution, but nursing homes and healthcare institutions will absolutely drain you of every penny they can get their hands on. If grandma wants to pass on her house, making sure that the nursing home can't get their hands on it is something that should be considered before you send her there.

Multi-generational households, I guess

Almost every culture on Earth looks at the West's kick the kids out a 18, kick the elderly out when they're inconvenient model as pretty fucked up.

yeah but do those cultures have designated shooting schools? I think not

At least in anti-italian-action they're marginally better. It's normal to live with parents for much longer AND housing isn't (too much) of a luxury there so it's reasonable. Here in the US it's a big contradiction. You're expected to move out at 18 but rent costs 2k everywhere. So really only trust fund kids can pull this off.

Believe me, I tried and unfortunately I'm too many generations in to qualify for any Italian citizenship.
