Midwesterner checking in - whats the problem with buckthorn?
Ding dang invasive species that kills off native plants.
I've heard it can go pretty insane and overrun areas. Plus it rhizomes so it is hard to eradicate. I planted some sea buckthorn here (not the Midwest) a couple years ago and it is still small, but I'm keeping an eye on it. I like the berries. They taste strong, like you're eating a vitamin.

I'm only familiar with sea buckthorn and it's bright golden orange berries. I know they are safe to eat. Idk about the purple ones.
