Console gaming has its benefits over PC gaming and often times is better.

They definitely both have pros and cons. After sitting in front of a computer all day for work, sometimes I just wanna sit on the couch and play some Spiderman without having to deal with connecting my gaming desktop to the big screen.

Boooooooo! Lol :P

I'm just so sick of games being dumbed down, ambition curtailed, and shit controls because a game has to be made to run on a garbage console first and then cheaply ported over to PC suffering from all the decisions that were made due to the limitations the console had.

What, you mean you don't like $70 games with clunky selection wheels and a draw distance of 5m? xD

Fair, for the price you have gotten decent value over the years. You're right in that your opinion might not be popular here, considering all the replies you got.

I'm through with vendor lock-in so console gaming isn't for me, but there are indeed some upsides.

I mean the Nintendo switch and other Nintendo consoles show it. You can design a console in a unique way and then design games around it.

A PC doesn't have that luxury. It's still great with custom hardware but there is much less incentive of including say, a touchscreen in your games. Or motion controls.

This is only maybe true for convenience, maybe, but as far as cost, experience and quality, nope.

Not "often" but yes

Depends on the game, for me. I couldn't imagine trying to play a game like Stellaris on a console- but a game like Horizons is better suited to a console system. I play Skyrim (yes, I know) with a controller on pc, tho. Husband and I played Diablo4 with me using the console and him using his laptop with my wide-screen moved into the livingroom temporarily

Personally I think both are needed for optimal gaming.

Cheaper I guess :-)

I mean, if console is jailbroken then yes, it has most of the benefits, but if not then most of the world can buy only few games in month at most, and some can't buy at all, gamepass is a lifesaver in that sense, you can buy it for 50$ per year if you buy from resellers

When devs release only console versions, or release console versions well in advance of PC releases, yeah. Benefits are simplicity and availability.
