Is it considered offensive if it's your sovereign land to defend? I think not.
They are literaly the ones who named it that.
Well in military terms it's a counter offensive because they wanted to retake land that was occupied by the Russian offensive. But you're right, it's not technically an offensive because Ukraine didn't retake any land from Russia.
No, they aren't right at all. The military definition of offensive includes recapturing territory.
Jokes about Ukraine being sovereign aside, that is the technical term
