If I wrote a story about a nation of people so concerned with genetic purity and the future of their nation that they harvested the literal cum out of dead soldiers in order to artificially inseminate people down the line, any editor would laugh in my face and tell me it was absurd and needlessly fascistic sadness-abysmal

Eh. I'm not sure that's the right interpretation of what's going on here. Jewishness is kind of famously not genetic. A lot of groups ascribe Jewishness as passed down matrilinealy; If your mom was Jewish, you're Jewish. And Israel's laws on who is Jewish are kind of a mess. I assume this is just people who want genetic descendants for normal whatever it is that makes people want biological descendants (I've never really understood it) reasons and some news writer thought it was get some clicks.
