'well, I didn't vote for him'
'both sides are the same'
'why do you support genocide?'
'no wars president'
'he knows how to run it like a business'
'im a fucking moron'
^^^all the above groups are the same
What self reflection do you do when you realize that the opposition party that you shill for STRUGGLES to defeat the most obvious and disgusting populations in our country.
What self reflection do you do when you look back at the last forty years and try to tell someone what they GAINED by voting for your neoliberal (opposition).
What self reflection do you do when you say something so stupid as above and all of the leaders of the party that YOU SHILL FOR haven't done anything to stop any of this? They don't even focus on the worst aspects and share the same donors. Is Peter Thiel less evil now that he supports Dems instead of MAGA? So now we support Peter Thiel?
What self reflection do you do when the party you shill for can only come up with a pathetic "first 100 day plan" a couple weeks before midterms when we should have something like "Project 2028" that should be a published roadmap of everything that they are going to implement and everyone that they are going to imprison.
Instead, the people you shill for while shitting on the American people, are "committed to oversight" and going to "restore affordable care act tax credits"
No one should support any of this until the Dems get rid of AIPAC and change leadership.
Everyone always accused me of being an election bot so I will even give some neolibs some credit. Ossof and Tallarico are awesome and know how to speak to MAGA filth and are promising. David Hogg was a good DNC chair that wanted the party to change direction and they got rid of him with a quickness. So without a change in leadership and committee appointments, just prepare to watch more capitalist elbow bumps after their WWE fights while we get NOTHING
So because the choices are evil or useless, you say nothing is preferable which ultimately gives evil the victory.
Dems suck. They have my whole life.
Republicans vary from stupid to straight up evil.
In a choice between "sucks" and "evil," I know which I choose every time. In case it isn't clear to you, I am of the firm stance that something that sucks can be tolerated or even turned into something beneficial in the long run. Evil is just evil and has no place in society.
"Don't support the dems" hands Republicans everything they want.
I wish the blues had a spine or even a real platform from which to launch anything sensible. At least with Obama he made healthcare his platform, and he was so adamant about it that even the Republicans had to deal with it. Was it a stunning success? No, because it was shot full of holes in congress and crippled before it ever got off the ground by the original McConnell group. Obama was not at all representative of my beliefs in most of the rest of his actions, but the man did his best to effect positive change. Nobody else has done that or anything close since, and prior to that we have to go all the way back to the Depression and public works programs to find anything similarly beneficial to the public. Oh, and Social Security. Which has been gutted by - wait for it - Republicans.
Dems are responsible for allowing the overton window to shift so far right and they are rightfully vilified by actual lefties for it.
They're still better than the alternative.
There it is: nuance. Well put, friend.
No. Im saying that we are trapped in an illusion of choice.
True, if you are a slave and always will be, I guess the master that doesn't hit me would be the better one. But we weren't always slaves. FDR wasn't that long ago.
I'm not saying "do nothing", YOU are
And the DSA movement is taking that illusion and attempting to effect the change we seek, an inch at a time.
And that's the only way progress happens right now unless you're willing to flip the table society rests upon.
But as we have seen it does not work.
People have been preaching incremental voting as long as trickle down economics and it all leads here.
We need to go back to the New Deal era of policies and have a party that stands for those principles
What do you propose as the next step?
Hm. Crickets. Figures.
And DSA is the first incremental step back towards that. You form a third party and see how far you get without Citizens United money.
It is a horseshit sandwich, but it's what we've got right now. Perfect can't be the enemy of good, especially right now.
Enemy of my enemy and all, nahmean?
Edit: more accurately, the more we can do to frustrate the actual evil, the more time we ultimately have to find the real solution. Again, it isn't perfect, but its the solution we currently have.
Right. So we don't have to vote for neoliberals.
If we actually get any say with the Democrats, I don't believe we do, the leadership needs to change and rules need to be in place for how the party is funded but the government is so compromised I'm not sure where we would have to start. We have ended up a feral country, and even our economic relationship with the rest of the world has changed forever.
The fascists are here and have autonomous killing drones and are part of the military now so I'm not too sure.
At least they can vote. Many people don't have that luxury. Yet they threw it away first chance. What's next? 'oh no one votes, so we should cancel elections next time?' They have no idea how good they have it.
I saw zero shilling in their comment.
Attacking the left and critics of your party with all encompassing straw man arguments isn't shilling?
Hmm
Are you actually shilling for a shill?
SHILLCEPTION
Nah dude, I just really have a thing for calling out bullshit arguments
Here, let's make it easy for everyone. Point out where the shilling occurs:
Maybe you don't actually know what the word means and were just using it wrong? Or is that too charitable?
It would the comment that I responded to, numbnuts
"I see zero shilling here"
Reply commenter wants change. Doesn't do anything. Expects change anyway. Complains to everyone why there's no change.
Smh Just waiting for the 'I voted Dem btw' comment.
Not you prole.
They're not here, pal. All flavors of lefites are from vaguely center-left to "it goes that far???"
But none of the right that I've seen.
Yeah IMO the closest we have to conservatives here are the Tankies, which can come across as MAGA at first glance because they both like licking boots.
