This. My dad is also Silent Generation and my sister and I discovered one day in the 70s whilst snooping that my parents were hiding their weed from us.
e: oh, also if you could ‘fool’ a wwii vet/survivor during the 70s by saying a weed smell was ‘American cigarettes’, he was definitely ‘fooling’ you. XD
Silent Generation people had incredibly good poker faces, if I recall correctly. Like, "find out their actual opinion ten years after they died and understand the humour" good.
