I am open to being taught otherwise if I'm wrong, but I don't find your points convincing. I must confess that due in part to the Apartheid Defense League's "sharp rise in antisemitism" incident tracker consisting mostly of Zionists seeing anti-genocide rallies and wanting to play victim, I do find claims of increased antisemitism much less credible. Not quite Nazi-who-cried-wolf levels of less credible, but getting there.

If you have a large minority population that feels unsafe, that's a problem and it's worth addressing

If their feelings match reality, yes. I don't know how many times Zionists have to pretend to be afraid while aiding genocide before people notice that that "fear" is being weaponized so they can play the victim while committing genocide. Or does Zohran's plan only allot extra security to explicitly antizionist synagogues that do not send money to the genocidal settler-colonial occupying state? Because if so then my apologies, hostility toward antizionist Jews who support the liberation of Palestine and the complete dissolution of Israel would in fact be antisemitism and should be opposed. It would just be very inconsistent with everything he's done so far to make such a principled distinction, so I assume that's not what he means.

Will that "extra security at synagogues" be used to stop neonazis from carrying out hate crimes against a vulnerable minority, or will that extra security be used to crack down on anti-genocide activists trying to disrupt the illegal land sales which Zionists conduct at some synagogues to sell land in occupied Palestine to prospective settlers? Because there's been a lot more of the latter than the former lately (Jews are indeed not the state of Israel, and more congregations need to start acting like it! )

Muslims have far more cause to be afraid for their safety in NYC (and the US at large) than do Jews, but I've never seen a big initiative like this to protect Muslims. It probably wouldn't play well politically for Zohran to undertake such initiatives either and he's a savvy careerist. Still, it makes me doubt that he cares about responding to the fear of a vulnerable minority.

More generally, I don't know how it's possible to have watched Mamdani cozying up to liberal Zionists since he got elected and throwing anti-genocide efforts under the bus and conclude this is anything other than more Uncle Tom bullshit from him. His choice to center Jewish feelings is a ploy to show that he's not antisemitic, but it won't stop Zionazis from calling him antisemitic anyway because he has a history of verbally expressing support for Palestine even as his material actions in power betray that cause.

The rise in antisemitic incidents is according to the NYPD, and is basically violent and property crimes. It's hard to find statistics on this or details of all the crimes, but it seems to be split 50/50 assault/vandalism, and antisemitic crimes make up about half of all hate crimes in the city. These incidents have been up since oct 7th. Overall it's still a safe city, and there aren't a lot of hate crimes generally, but when NYPD is reporting a rise in hate crimes, and the community is reporting that they feel less safe, it's a problem. There is probably issues with how the NYPD counts these crimes, but it would still be a mistake to dismiss the issue.

Ok. I was refwrring to https://www.adl.org/resources/tools-to-track-hate/heat-map which is different and includes a lot of not-actually-antisemitic incidents.

The point about the NYPD reporting does not really answer the question of whether these are antisemitic attacks or not. Are the crimes against Zionists or against Jews? This is an essential distinction. If antizionist Jews are being targeted by the far right for being Jewish then it's a hate crime. But if Zionists are being targeted for being Zionists by people opposed to the genocide then it's not a hate crime even if they are also Jewish.

I'd be shocked if the NYPD made that distinction or provided that crucial data, but the absence of it doesn't make it less crucial to have. I hate that I even have to question this but Zionists have weaponized claims of antisemitism so much in covering for their genocidal aspirations that scrutiny is required.

Yeah, zionists have muddied the waters on this deliberately. Zionists blame Zohran directly for the rise in hate crime because he's called out the genocide. Those groups are disappointed with this anti-semitism task force because it's not pro-Israel.

I have not been able to find a complete list of crimes by the NYPD., they only have a dashboard that doesn't go into detail. The incidents they highlight in news reports include things like stabbings and public threats ofremoved and murder that seem serious. You don't have to be a zionist to object to swastika graffiti, or people being stabbed.

You don't have to be a zionist to object to

swastika graffiti

Of course I object to hakenkreutz graffiti.  That should be addressed as a general far right problem that threatens all minorities the way so many of us been organizing against the far right for over a decade now.

people being stabbed

Violence is a morally neutral tool and at this point my feelings toward it honestly depends on who's being stabbed.  6 year old Palestinian boy stabbed for being Palestinian?  Absolutely I object to his murder.  Antizionist jewish comrades?  Of course I object to violence against them.  Zionists?  idgaf shrug-outta-hecks.  "Every city every place, punch a nazi in the face" applies to zionists too, if people actually oppose genocidal fascism.

I really can't take the claims of "antisemitism" in new york stuff seriously given how much islamenhasse there is which the government has never taken seriously, not even now under a Muslim mayor.  Mamdani, by centering "antisemitism", is playing into Zionist hands by acting like judenhass is a special form of bigotry against a special minority group that is uniquely hated, uniquely vulnerable, uniquely persecuted, uniquely genocided, which is one of the points Zionists use to whip Jews into a frenzy of paranoia and fear internationally.  Is increasing funding to combat antisemitism by 800% really going to flip racist zionists who pretend to think Zohran's the next Hitler over to loving him?  Is it going to make them feel safe?  Or is it just going to reinforce their persecution complex by showing "look, we're so persecuted that we need all this protection and also look, even all this extra spending hasn't made us safe so we truly are the most persecuted group!"?
