It seems like all of America wants China to invade. Some yearn for freedom, others just wanna be tuff. I would love to see America have to fight a defensive war on their own soil for the first time ever. They would be taken out like field mice under a roto tiller. Fucking Twilight Zone called it in 1959 with The Monsters are Due on Maple Street. No one is more suspicious and hateful of their neighbors than suburban Americans. People who fantasize about violence always fantasize themselves winning easily.
Its the same fantasy as zombie apocalypse. A way to show their masculinity by doing violence.
tbf I think some people are attracted to zombie apocalypse settings because most of these stories depict small communities providing for each other and having their basic needs met just by participating in survival labor
Similarily they think the zombies are strong enough to cause an apocalypse while weak enough him and his neighbor could totally thrive in said apocalypse
The US got hosed pretty badly in the war of 1812. If there wasn’t a diplomatic resolution to the war, it’s likely that the US would’ve ended up as a British colony again.
