Obese illiterate guy learned that he is not immune to bullets.

There have been two instances in history where Chinese and American infantry fought one another directly and both times the Chinese soldiers won. Both instances were during the Korean war.

I learned a lot about this by watching the documentary The Battle at Lake Changjin (2021)

BMI of 35.

You may not like it but this is what the ideal Bürgermensch body looks like.

[–] reaper_cushions@hexbear.net 16 points 1 day ago

Bürgermensch sounds almost like German. It would translate to something like citizen-human or citizen-person.

[–] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 70 points 1 day ago (7 children)

we literaly live in the era of drones and gunpowder and chuds still think war is decided by physical strength (it hasnt since the invention of the crossbow)

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 3 points 23 hours ago

I suppose overall fitness (not necessarily raw strength) has always been important. You can't march for days with gear if you can't run 10m without getting winded.

But you're right in the sense that bombs and guns equalize that somewhat, drones even more so because you have have your less fit soldiers just pilot them.

[–] lil_tank@hexbear.net 56 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

ACTUALLY crossbows were tied to strength because your fire rate was tied to how many times you could load it in a multiple hours battle (precision was barely a factor they just shot as many as possible in the right direction) nerd

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 61 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And who invented the fastest, shootiest crossbow of all? That's right. The Chinese.

#ArbalestGang :zhugeliang-shining:

[–] Carl@hexbear.net 34 points 1 day ago

:themysicra-shining: actually war is predominantly determined by logistics which is why women (who consume fewer calories per spear) make superior soldiers for state conflicts.

Imagine living in 2026 and thinking that a peer conflict will involve fighting close enough to see the other guys.

Russians when the snow speaks Finnish

geordi-no

Americans when the bushes speak Vitenamese

geordi-no

Americans when they hear lawnmowers and see jellyfish

geordi-yes

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 42 points 1 day ago (2 children)

there have been trench raids in ukraine. that's maybe not strictly peer but it's closer than any conflict the US has been involved in a long time

[–] SchillMenaker@hexbear.net 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Those trench raids were much more common early on in the conflict before the full drone apocalypse set in. I have to imagine it's at least 100-1000x more common that a drone drops a grenade on a trench than it is for the two sides to be close enough to reach out and touch each other.

And if we're talking about China I think it's safe to assume that their drone force would dwarf anything we've seen in Russia/Ukraine.

I wasn't aware wars were fought by large adult sons doing Greco-Roman wrestling

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 57 points 1 day ago (2 children)

That's what they took from you.

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 56 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I unironically think that’s what’s behind Hegseth’s obsession with the BMI of the average soldier. While he and his ilk wouldn’t give up the modern military tech, they think it’s less important than how much the typical grunt can dead lift. It’s like Vader calling the Death Star insignificant next to the Force, except instead of a universal metaphysical power it’s the kind of shit that impresses meatheads at the gym.

[–] nilloc@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 9 hours ago

That and his closeted attraction to them.

It seems like all of America wants China to invade. Some yearn for freedom, others just wanna be tuff. I would love to see America have to fight a defensive war on their own soil for the first time ever. They would be taken out like field mice under a roto tiller. The most childish undisciplined spoiled brats who have it so deeply ingrained that being contrarian is the ultimate expression of personal freedom vs yknow, an army

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 47 points 1 day ago (1 children)

3 days without power or water and these "rugged individualist freedom fighters" would be tearing each other apart.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 40 points 1 day ago

Fucking Twilight Zone called it in 1959 with The Monsters are Due on Maple Street. No one is more suspicious and hateful of their neighbors than suburban Americans. People who fantasize about violence always fantasize themselves winning easily.

[–] Gorillatactics@hexbear.net 14 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Its the same fantasy as zombie apocalypse. A way to show their masculinity by doing violence.

[–] MasterBlaster@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 16 hours ago

tbf I think some people are attracted to zombie apocalypse settings because most of these stories depict small communities providing for each other and having their basic needs met just by participating in survival labor

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 2 points 18 hours ago

Similarily they think the zombies are strong enough to cause an apocalypse while weak enough him and his neighbor could totally thrive in said apocalypse

god made americans and the chinese, kalashnikov made them all 5'11''

[–] Feed_el_Castro@hexbear.net 67 points 1 day ago (1 children)

According to the slop machine:

The average height for 19-year-old young adults is approximately 175.7 cm (5 ft 9 in) for men and 163.5 cm (5 ft 4 in) for women in China, compared to about 177 cm (5 ft 9.5 in) for men and 163–164 cm for women in the United States.

So yeah, it's exclusively racist prejudice based on historically colonialism-driven wealth differences.

[–] Monk3brain3@hexbear.net 64 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Height is also related to nutrition so as soon as China escaped poverty the average height started to go up. This isn't even new info lol. So the US will probably see a decline

[–] Monk3brain3@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago

Damn that was fast

[–] TommyCatkins@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago

Insert 1983 CIA report about how Soviet Citizens have a more nutritious diet than Americans here.

you can't have any china until you finish your iran

[–] oliveoil@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago

As an Iranian, I would like to see them try with China and then back off.

It would relieve a considerable amount of economic, military, and political pressure for Iran.

[–] blartcap_@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 1 day ago

How would they even pass basic training weighing that much

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 48 points 1 day ago

The chuds posting this shit will also repost every “Samuel Colt made men equal with guns” meme without a moment’s introspection
