there have been trench raids in ukraine. that's maybe not strictly peer but it's closer than any conflict the US has been involved in a long time
Those trench raids were much more common early on in the conflict before the full drone apocalypse set in. I have to imagine it's at least 100-1000x more common that a drone drops a grenade on a trench than it is for the two sides to be close enough to reach out and touch each other.
And if we're talking about China I think it's safe to assume that their drone force would dwarf anything we've seen in Russia/Ukraine.
if i had to guess, if the US doesn't just fully abandon taiwan after demolitioning the chip fabs, and chinese leadership is replaced by aliens trying to destabilize earth instead of waiting out the situation, then there'll be tunnels and shit where flying drones can't really get to and those dog shitters or rc cars will be way more vulnerable to small arms/ within shotgun range.
It's a war between bordering countries, makes a bit of a difference
