They're different tiers, but economy is the majority chosen due to the price (business is expensive for most travelers hence why they opt for economy even if its crap) and it depends on how long the flight is rendering the price difference justified. If on a short flight, then economy is ideal if on a budget. However, if you're heading somewhere it's distant: business is better at the expense of paying a lot more than economy.

Always economy. I splurge on the hotel. Flight you're on for only so many hours and then you're done. No matter what you feel gross and miserable. I like knowing for the next few days I'm going to be in a nice hotel room.

Huh I'm the opposite. A nice flight avoids burning a day on rest once you get there. The hotel is there to sleep and rest in, as long as it's clean quiet and central that's all I care about. I'm not planning on spending much time there awake, so it doesn't need to be super nice
