not worry about it phoning home all the shit you're doing to shady ass companies.. also you can set up vpn servers, configure all the shiznut to your heart's content..
i miss having openwrt. no one has made it compatible with the newest 10gig routers yet so i'm stuck with shitty tplink firmware
Why do you need a 10gig router?
If you have homelab, it's kinda a necessity. Especially if you have multiple servers that are constantly screaming at each other or running backups.
Anything less will heavily limit your fileio speed since 10G is only ~1GB/s best case, and that's likely going to be split across many connected devices.

You can always get a different router box that supports 10G and use the WRT as a node.
I had an OPNSense router that used to be a digital signage PC (one that used Ethernet to control the TVs) and I was able to slap a NIC card in there and get it up to 10G. The SFP ports are definitely where it's at if you have a fiber connection, or want to directly link two servers tho.
