Well yes, they never said they were 'completely remaking OOT'
Looks like dogshit though. Purely a remake for the odd number of people who have avoided the 3DS remake and the port of OOT to the N64 Emulator & have somehow never emulated it themselves and the Gen Alpha children who can only play games with Unreal Engine textures. Actually upsetting that this & the shitty live action movie are all we're getting for the 40th anniversary. No announcement of even the title of the next game, no port of Twilight Princess HD to the eshop or Twilight Princess to the GC subscription emulator. I would have actually even taken news about the Legend of Zelda world at Universal or something over the shitty ass Unreal Engine OOT. Genuinely a soulless remake
Yeah, I'm not really sure why people expected a whole new game with Nintendo not advertising it as such with only a few months left before release
I really don't like the new aesthetic and the zora king going "mweep" is the only voice acting I needed, but it'll be fun to see speedrunners find new ways to break this game at least. After Ganondoor and Ganonfloor I wonder what things can be used to just warp to the end of the game next
Ship of Harkinian remains the only OoT version you'd ever need
Yeah me either; the aesthetic looks so bad to me. Maybe it'll look better playing handheld on the Switch 2 but I doubt it. Will I buy the physical edition day 1? Probably because Zelda has historically been one of my favorite series and I've played every version of OOT at least once all the way through, am I expecting it to be better than the 3DS remaster? Fuck no. Will it be better than the OG 64 version or even the Gamecube Master Quest version? In Eiji Aonuma's fucking dreams.
The bloom and saturated look. I just think they could do so much more or something so different in terms of graphics. It's like a glorified tech demo.
The big thing is voice acting too. I'm supposed to be impressed like SM64 didn't have voice acting in it back in 1973.
I can't believe there was no announcement of the next game. Seems like a slam dunk to even let us know they were cooking up something.
Yeah, this is honestly the defining line for what I consider 'my kind of Zelda fan' and 'their first Zelda game was BOTW fans'. It's actually insufferable to me that people DEMAND voice acting in Zelda games now. Like, sure, the BOTW Japanese dub is pretty good but not enough for me to go "waow I need to hear Zelda be voice acted in EVERY GAME MOVING FORWARD". And I'm sure after the movie comes out, this expectation will be baked into all Zelda games moving forward
It's the same thing with people who want new Pokemon games to be voice acted. Like, sure, would it 'add' something to the games if NPCs/characters that aren't the protagonist are voiced? I guess. Would it make any game better? Fuck no.
I actually look down on people who are like "I don't like reading a bunch of text I'd rather it was voice acted" for any game, but especially Zelda & Pokemon lol.
I'd have absolutely no problem with pokemon not being voice acted if they didn't keep doing awkward cutscenes where the characters' mouths are visibly moving and there are subtitles instead of a text box yet there's no actual voice
