In Ramsgate, Kent a couple years ago we had a lightning storm that lasted hours, with bolts nearby every few minutes or seconds for the whole time. Rain coming down like pencils, ten seconds outside drenched me completely. Lightning is my favourite weather to watch, it used to give me a frisson. That night I got bored of it.
The lightening storm over London back in June was similar, it went on for like 8 hours with thousands of huge, intense, atmosphere shaking bolts of lightening. It was setting the freaking car alarms off down my street every time a bolt touched down near by. Barely any rain that night though, which was interesting but it had bucketed down just before hand.
