I never played board games and I always get the feeling that it's too late for me to start ๐Ÿ˜ข

You can definitely still learn to play boardgames, the easier ones aren't especially difficult to learn, the hardest part would be finding a group to play with. If you can't find anyone IRL, you can always look around online, with the added benefit that Tabletop Simulator is comparatively much cheaper than physical boardgames.
