That's like one of the few board games you can only go wrong with

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 4 points 3 days ago

Depends on how heavy of an experience you want. If the boardgame's just something to mess around with, maybe try a party game like Codenames, or something light like Carcassonne. If boardgames are meant to be the focus of the meetup, play something heavier like Spirit Island.

I never played board games and I always get the feeling that it's too late for me to start 😢

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 6 points 3 days ago

You can definitely still learn to play boardgames, the easier ones aren't especially difficult to learn, the hardest part would be finding a group to play with. If you can't find anyone IRL, you can always look around online, with the added benefit that Tabletop Simulator is comparatively much cheaper than physical boardgames.

Oh like Dimension 20 IRL? That sounds like fun! I'll be Matt Mercer

Cw look we may get a bit emotionally vulnerable when discussing our partners, hopes, fears and dreams, so please leave your judgement at the door before 'downloading' this podcast (walking into the room)

hanging out with the boys is fun but getting the groupon campaign running, scheduling the hang through meetup, and catering of course, is always annoying

It's hilarious how when I was a teen I thought I could hyperanalyze all social interactions to be good at them because they didn't make sense to me.

For example: I couldn't understand flirting and relationships. I remember asking a friend who was a prolific flirt to give me a step by step guide on how to flirt and hit on people and he was like "what". I couldn't understand that people just felt like doing stuff, they must've learned it somewhere!

Later I got good at social interaction, but only because I was masking so hard I couldn't do anything else at the same time and I would be exhausted by the end of every social interaction.
