It was my 2nd Fire Emblem game, i really like the pair up system way better than the Adjutant in three houses that i would sometimes forgot to use, i like the story, i already kinda knew bits of it via cultural osmosis but i still like it very much and also the parts i didnt know about like the Ferox Khan surviving and the fake gem.
Child units were pretty fun, they all have good growths so they became really strong units but i didnt got all the kids only, Lucina, Cynthia, Morgan, Nah, Severa and Noire so only half. Severa was my favorite since she was pretty funny
i like reclassing to pick up good skill for my units in the end the units with max skill slots were robin, the kids and tiki, i kinda tried to get the another kid unit but the units i didnt use were pretty weak so it was hard to get them lvl so i just forgot about them
This was the Peoples Liberation Army of Ylisse (plus Sumia), in the final campaign plus my beautiful dragon daughter that can solo maps
i did a bad play in turn 2 and 4 which killed my healer and then the pagasus paladin pair up, but in the end the Manateke squad was able to beat the grimleal and then Morgan got a double Luna proc vs Grima and i got the final hit with Robin to permanently kill Grima since my wife and daughter were dragon and they would have 100% have to deal with him in 1000 years, i like the ending i think it makes more sense than the chrom last hit ending.
10/10 game i really liked it, i will play FE Fates next since it has similar gameplay
Just a bit of caution if you want to play Fates.
Awakening was the first of the "new" Fire Emblem games, that started a lot of the absolute worst trends in the series. They're fine in Awakening (except Nowi, wtf pedo shit were they thinking?), but they get really, really bad in Fates. They got rolled back a lot in Three Houses.
The stuff that is kind of noticeable in the background of Awakening takes the front seat in Fates. A lot of the characters are just one dimensional waifu bait, the protagonist is your OC and they are super special awesome cool guy(or girl). If you can't tolerate cringey dating sim style events shoved awkwardly into your game, or terrible plots and nonsensically stupid characters, or the weird character breeding system just being awkwardly shoved into the game with no real explanation beyond a hand wave (which makes it go from a pretty unique mechanic tied to the plot into straight up character eugenics), and the fact that it'll probably be hard to pirate it since the game is split into thirds, with the second and third part being DLC, which you can't even get legally now, since the 3DS shop no longer exists.
It was a game that made me question whether Awakening was even a good game or not, had me reconsidering the whole series, thankfully it is by far the worst in the series, but for me it crosses that line of "so bad it's good" and more "So bad I would not want anyone to see me ever playing this because they might think it is a weird ass anime porn game or something."
Awakening made me a Fire Emblem fan, Fates made me no longer a fan.
Special edition has all three parts as a single cartridge
I have been praising old school fire emblem big itt. I would STRONGLY recommend 7 and then 3
i think i will be fine, since my first FE game was Three houses, i downloaded the special edition so it has all 3 paths, i wont play the dlc which i think it will be fine
My problems are entirely with the writing and the characters and the very otaku focused choices they made there. The gameplay is still great at least.
