So every time I post my incredibly funny bit about this stupid AMD netbook not booting on 7.1 and newer Linux kernels, this is what I mean. There's some kind of mess with the support flags that indicate whether Southern Islands (Radeon 7000, GCN 1.0, coded as "si") and Sea Islands (Radeon Rx 200, GCN 1.1, coded as "cik") should boot AMDGPU or not. It's all very silly. Here is a collection of links about the issue.

As a bonus I tried booting other random Linux 7.1-using live images on this system, and they fail the same way, so I don't think it's any stupid config thing of my own doing.

EDIT: bro u just gotta restore nutmeg bro it's ez bro

Applying only "drm/amd/display: Fix preferred link rate for NUTMEG" on top of v7.1.3 restores VGA output with DC enabled (link trains, CRTC active at 1360x768@60); stable across repeated reboots.

God I wish that were me etc

I do have an openbsd on my ventoy actually, so maybe that's more productive than trying in vain to get amdgpu to boot so I can use vulkan on a system with a CPU that's fuckin dual issue and has a 5-watt TDP.
