Welcome to c/news! We aim to foster a book-club type environment for discussion and critical analysis of the news. Our policy objectives are:

Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

At this moment, no American did shit to deserve a pass. History will judge y'all the same, so don't feign that either Genocide Joe or Zio Harris would do anything differently. They would just keep the farce domestically, and the American indifference would be even more cruel.
The only ones deserving pity are the poor workers who are treated poorly and have no ties to the Evil Empire. That guy is not one of them.
what does that have to do with ICE torturing people? the dad isn't an "American" citizen or even legal resident (allegedly), that's why he's in a cell.
if you have any values of proportional punishment for crimes or legitimacy of the entity deciding and applying punishment then even without knowing anything about the boot's father, we can know the father doesn't deserve this specific thing and ICE is not holding him accountable for anything.

ICE isn't persecuting this random Nicaraguan in solidarity with the victims of empire they're just making another victim. if one fascist brutalizes another it's not justice or retribution for their victims. Justice comes from society, retribution comes from the aggrieved.
