I used to listen to a podcast called The Deprogram as a comfort podcast but as time went on its hosts seemed to run out of things to say on communism so they started to give their limited views on life as episodes without any serious education about Marxism's connection to things like marriage, disability, health, and love. In this their privilege as cis het able bodied men came forward but I kept holding on for nostalgia but I have I finally let go of it.

Same. I've grown pretty tired of the "life advice from three dudes" as it tends to be pretty normative and toxic. Hakims body related brainworms especially really rub me the wrong way, but it also feels like they are getting a bit too high on their own awesomeness and it has kind of made it not fun. I also get tired of the drunk uncle rants yogo tends to do, so much yelling.

The latest had a big rant on how electroralism is good actually and I just kind of closed it and went to listen to the soviet history podcast instead.

Truly, 'life advice from dudes' might just be the worst part of any programme.

A very specific composition of three dudes:

  • the whimsically random and sometimes unhinged guy who's worked in media/PR and who I'd probably like the most IRL
  • the guy who's been the committed ML the longest and very easily goes into long rants and theory recommendations
  • the polite and high-society-adjacent guy who does a lot behind the scenes and makes the podcast run more smoothly

What’s the name of the soviet history podcast?

It's The Sickle and the Hammer.
