I don’t see a thread about Missouri, hope you don’t mind if I hijack this for a moment because I see folks on Reddit baffled about why Cori Bush lost and I’m banned there so getting it out here.

I feel like there’s a big disconnect between national commentators like Hasan and MikefromPA and locals in St. Louis. Bush - whether it’s fair or unfair - has a major reputation in St. Louis. I guess the best way to say it is… folks in her district see her as a grifter. The faith healing stuff, tornado relief funds, hiring her husband on the campaign, that controversy with her security team when she was in congress. I’ve given up trying to figure how much of it is true, but that doesn’t really matter; people in St. Louis believe it’s true. Even people that like her politics think she’s sus. And Wesley Bell, outside of the Israel/AIPAC stuff, is generally well aligned with voters in MO-1. He’s affable and seen as professional and reliable. American voters and Dem voters in particular are turning on Israel, but I would also caution against assuming it’s Dem voters top priority.

St. Louis DSA needs to get someone else other than Cori Bush. I don’t think she has any political future in St. Louis.

But in more positive news, amendments 4 and 5 are getting stomped, like the “no” votes are putting up Assad numbers. Amendment 4 would have eliminated income taxes and replaced them with sales taxes, and 5 would have eliminated the ability for the people to vote on constitutional amendments and pass with a simple majority (which is good in MO, because when it comes down to individual issues MO voters are to the left of Dem politicians)

Edit: to clarify, not only would amendment 5 stopped voters from being able to amend the constitution, but the GOP-dominated legislature would also get the ability to amend the constitution by a simple majority. So for example, while abortion is currently legal the legislature would have banned it day one had amendment 5 passed.
