You can start running jellyfin in like five minutes. After that you can devote as much or as little time as you want
Does jellyfin search for content and request it from debrid torrent streamers ?
Not alone but arr stack with sonarr etc. can. See trash guide.
Sure but that takes more than 5 minutes, doesn't it.
Install? No, is just install script, see servarr wiki. Setup to search your thing? Probably because not used to interface yet.
But as vendetta say requirement was only jellyfin not full streamio replace.
We're commenting in a post about what's wrong with stremio. Jellyfin was suggested as an alternative.
That's irrelevant to the original point which is setting up jellyfin
...As an alternative to a streaming based solution. Given the context OP was not talking about just installing jellyfin, the fair comparison would be everything required to make it work.
No it's not, the original point was:
Jellyfin is a great project. I use it myself. However, it's not a stremio replacement.
No clue why you got down voted. I illegitimately want to know this too.
Nah, I was being a little bit snarky, trying to point out that jellyfin is not an alternative to stremio.
As far as I know, jellyfin only streams local content, so for movies and TV you probably want the *arr family to find and download all the things.
Illegitimately? If this isn't a typo, I wanna know more information. Lol.
(Fyi, this comment was meant in a light-hearted way. We all make typos here and there and I'm not trying to make fun of you.)
Yeah now it's as easy as copying a docker-compose file from the website and running
docker-compose up -d. Easier even than Plex, imo.You don't even need Docker. There's a plain binary for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.
Don't you have to be hosting the files to play them?
I just don't want my main gaming PC on all the time so I can stream some files to my shield TV when I want to watch something.
Yes.
You don't need to leave it on all the time. The server only needs to be running when you want to watch something.
