I wonder if Twitter just hung onto market share in India while it hemorrhaged users in the anglosphere? IIRC we've seen this with Facebook in a few places. Basically everyone I want to follow moved to Bluesky or at least is posting their content there too - there's a few local governments that are stuck in 2010 technologically due to indifference or lack of budget that still only post stuff to Twitter but that's fairly unusual, but is infuriating enough for people to post about it.

That's possible, I don't know literally anyone from India on Bluesky; In fact there's more people I personally know who are on Mastodon as it's prevalent in the FOSS ecosystem. But Mastodon doesn't bring in general people easily so literally the only people I follow there are related to the FOSS ecosystem (and similar nerds)...
