I agree with you that it is just so stupid.
How people deal with death is wild to me. When I was still in college the brother of an old high school friend died so I received an invite to the funeral.
Keep in mind this was 30+ years ago. My old buddy, who was working a retail job went 25,000 USD in debt to fund the funeral. It was absurd how much he borrowed. By comparison two years later when I graduated college I was 23,000 in debt.
I also agree with you, when I die, take as many organs as you can, use the left overs for medical students and after throw the rest in trash, use it to feed the fish, whatever..
I just want to be yote in the dumpster, but that'd probably get a lot of people I do care about in a fuck ton of trouble.

That's a crazy amount of money.
My dad died earlier this year and my mom paid over USD 6.000 for the wake, cremation, gravesite etc. I thought that was a lot of money for a completely average and modest service.
I've never understood why dying has to be so expensive. I think it is kind of offensive that they charge you even for a cremation and an unmarked grave. We are all going to need our earthly remains disposed of sooner or later and the cemetery and the crematorium are already both public property so what's the point in charging people? It's not like you can just go without. I can accept charging people if they want to keep the gravesite after the urn/coffin has decomposed or if they want cemetery staff to keep the gravesite instead of doing it themselves but the basic option should be a public utility like parks or libraries.
In Hasanabi’s Cuba video two nice ladies were joking about how outrageous it is that in capitalist countries people have to pay to bury their loved ones.
