I don't want to speak for everyone but I definitely don't acquire the same mastery of information in a book if I listen to it be read rather than read it. That could just be a factor in my learning style rather than a general truth, however.
no, it's a legit thing.
just like you retain information better when you write it by hand vs typing it.
and also why things like auditory focused lectures don't translate great when they are written down, and tend to have less density by nature. because we don't talk like we write, typically. and in many languages there are different linguistic structures that only appear in writing vs talking, and if you spoke in 'written language' people would look at you like you're a total weirdo.
