Literally yes.
Swery well and truly shat the bed with the sequel whose dialogue and cutscenes are often physically painful to sit through and ALL OVER the fucking place with its messaging. One moment York is lecturing the audience about how we should respect and celebrate diversity, then something horribly racist or transphobic happens. How the character of Thomas is handled in the first game mostly comes off as dated. He's portrayed in a much more sympathetic light than like, Albert Ashford from RE:CV or whatever which helps
