there's no difference between city and federal powers

If Mamdani actually wanted to arrest Netanyahu, there's no end to the options he has. The NYPD is one of the world's largest and most powerful military forces. He could order the police to guard Netanyahu, but also have plainclothes police officers instigate a riot, then arrest Netayanhu and his entourage for obstruction when they inevitably respond to the riot violently. So fucking easy, they pull this kind of shit all the time with leftwing protestors. But Mamdani is a democrat, not a socialist, which means that he will have the NYPD escort Adolph Hitler to wherever he needs to go, while using the police to ruin the lives of the protestors who oppose him. Don't expect revolutionary action from liberals. They already had their revolution centuries ago and they're still protecting it.

You're acting as though the NYPD is actually loyal to Mamdani and ever did those things at explicit direction from the mayor.

If Mamdani can't actually do anything, what is the point of supporting him? One might almost think that the system is designed to stop people from destroying it via legal means.

What I'm doing is pointing out the legal limits of electoralism and your acting as though I'm in some Mamdani cult of personality. You have an unproductively campist view. Mamdani has utility and has limits. It is our responsibility to be objective about it.

he's currently really popular with high approval ratings and a list of accomplishments that make other democrats look like they sit around doing nothing all day.

Beats me.

a mayor can do some things, and cannot do others. the us has separations of powers, it has federalism.

JT from second thought/the deprogram did a video recently about what mamdani has accomplished so far and where he has fallen short of what we'd want.
