People crying about Nintendo Online pricing. First off, it's for an entire year, not by monthly, so I don't know how that's a negative. That's just an example.

I'm assuming you're in US, and your comment kinda sums up your biggest problem.

You've focussed on automobiles and dismissed public transport, bikes etc. You dont need a car, you want a car.

Ok, first of all you are correct in that I never considered using public transport lol. So fair point to you there. My city does have busses, I looked up routes for the first time ever (lol) to see what my commute would be like.

My 10-15 minute commute becomes 1 hour to 1.5 hours. Just disgusting lol. I might be able to bike but I'm not sure there's good paths and living up north I couldn't do that in the winter.

I do WANT a car as not having one seems awful. But I'm not really complaining about gas since my commute is so short I full up maybe once a month. But I thought we were talking about people in general not my specific situation. I could probably afford a used EV if I really wanted one.

If you're talking commuting you actually have more options, like living closer to work and home/hybrid working

And ebikes - mentioning this again as honestly these things are fantastic.

I get that this is all a challenge and the fact I've been roundly down voted is not lost on me. The thing is, regardless of what your president thinks, ICE cars are dying. Make it easier on yourself and plan for that now.
