This is one of those things where everyone will instinctively want to say "No way that could happen, everyone I know is super responsible and always makes sure the hash cakes are carefully labelled", but that presumes so much. Not just that the people she was with were responsible, but also that she didn't, I dunno, totally ignore a bunch of warnings or something.

Reality is, people do dumb shit. Any argument that depends on that not being true doesn't pass the sniff test.

I wasn't thinking about labelling, more taste. Surely you'd know?

But it's a genuine question as I don't know

No, you wouldn't notice, especially if you didn't know what to look for. The flavour change is pretty subtle, especially in something like a chocolate brownie.

And the effects of edibles come on very, very sneakily. It generally takes around half an hour before you feel it at all, so it's very easy to not even realize you're high, especially if you weren't planning to be, and perhaps don't have much experience with cannabis. If she maybe ate two or three without knowing what they were, she could easily walk away from the party feeling fine only to end up completely whacked out of her gourd on the highway.

Nice one. Thanks. Good to know!

99.9% of commercial products are made using extracts rather than whole plant material, and extracts can be flavorless.
