OP seems to have a number of comments about smart watches, so I'll chime in with some support.
I agree that smart watches are a gimmick. People obviously feel very attached to theirs even in these comments, but it is a product that is amplifying the worst parts of smartphone. Namely the constant attention grabbing notifications and monitoring for data mining. Why does everyone need to see instant messages the second they arrive? Take your attention back. The tracking is also insane for people to opt in to. Location and sensor measurements are constantly being recorded. These mostly don't even serve any purpose unless you act on the information. It would make sense if someone took more steps if their step count is low, but most don't act and you don't need a tracker to prompt some activity if you've had Aa sedentary day anyway.
I agree with OP that smart watches are a dumb product.
