The state of mass entertainment genuinely makes me feel doom. Most people just want the exact same slop they've already seen before, or that their parents saw forty years ago, or whatever.

Like the perfect avatar of this is the new Harry Potter show. It looks exactly the same as the movies did. It's not like a new take or reimagining or anything, it's reheated leftovers. I mean say what you want about the books or the YA industry that they spearheaded it's at least a little more than just a reheated version of things the boomers liked.
