Yet another example of Americans interrupting everything British as upper-class-coded.
Wank is a crass term among many circles in the UK. It's not a word you'd hear from "civilised" people in "polite" company.
I'm so sick of Americans pretending we don't have a highly divisive class system that got even worse under neoliberalism. It's like they're all trying to gaslight me into thinking all the suffering that happened under the Thatcher government never happened.
The kind of British person who moves to Los Angles to star in American television shows is probably quite wealthy already to be able to afford to do that, so that’s the version of British people that Americans know.
