I mean, "they" already have. It's not difficult to write prompts that generate language in a register different than "generic GPT".
It's just that the average AI slopspam website is so low effort the creators don't even bother.
If I wanted to extend the metaphor, I'd say people are spitting out the well water that tastes of bitter almonds and congratulating themselves for avoiding the poison, then going home and happily drinking water out of lead pipes.
It's not just the well. All the water is poisoned.
As far as I know, GPT loves using parallelism and can't be prompted out of it.
