Complaining about tofu being bland is the equivalent of saying that a blank canvas is boring.

Saying you hate tofu is such a self own. It is one of and maybe the most versatile food of all time. It is cheap. It's macros are at parity with chicken breast. It keeps well AND is much safer (food safety and healthwise) than meat.

I can confirm as someone going from eating meat with every meal to vegan, basic ass fried tofu tastes better than most restaurant meat these days.

What is even wilder is that the US grows a lot of soybeans, and the ideal target for MAGA would probably be a soybean farmer.

So funny story. In Denmark ARLA (big ass farmer-owned cooperative but its farmers so its not cool it sucks) lobbyed HARD to make it so plant milk couldn't be called milk^[this is extra funny because milk originally referred to the juices excreted by plants]. The assumption was that the only reason people bought oat milk and the like was because they thought it was like cow milk and would taste like cow milk.
After making it illegal to call plant milk milk ARLA saw no increase in sales.

They recently tried doing this nonsense with "sausage" as well.

Also funny because turd in Swedish is literally "poop sausage".

The milk thing pisses me off in a special way though because they all run around saying shit like "uhhh when has milk ever refferred to something from a plant?" when 1. THAT'S WHAT IT STARTED OUT REFERRING TO and 2. WE LITERALLY HAVE A PLANT NAMED MÆLKEBØTTE (Milk jar^[Bøtte refers to a small round container with a lid, so not a jar, but you know how translation is])

Right, If anything it should be required by all to specify what type of milk/sausage we're talking about.

"Do you want meat- or plant-milk with your coffee?"

They tried this with patties in Canada I think. They tried to say the word patty could only refer to a beef patty.

Intuitively if you wanted to see if oat milk tasted like cows milk you'd kind of lose 1 sale in the philosophical sense.

I don't believe a rational actor is capable of not understanding that oat milk is (likely) a vegan product.

I don't believe a rational actor is capable of not understanding that oat milk is (likely) a vegan product.

They seem to think the market for plant milk is entirely new-age woo woo hippies and that no one who buys plant milk is rational. All their commercials kind of focus on "oooh the earth the nature the spirits we are all in harmony", but in an even more stereotyping kind of way.

This commercial should be considered a hate crime of some kind
It manages to both offend me because that's what you think of your marketbase? AND because that's how you would make a commercial for your imaginary marketbase?

That's crazy that literally just assuming your target audience is lactose-intolerant carnivores would lead to more effective marketing

Also I straight up prefer soy milk to real milk. It's thicker and has a better aftertaste than dairy.
