I mean, it's not advisable as they are intended to live out in the wild. Even if you managed to tame one: would naming it Lemmy be suitable while being a literal mascot of Lemmy (this website). However, lemurs aren't the "typical" pet like that you would expect from a cat, dog or even a bird.

Then, why does the banner of this community display a lemur?

My thoughts exactly. I had to follow their wiki link to see the lemming mascot (which shows in red with a ? on its forehead right below the lemur). And I thought "oh yeah that thing."

The lemur is the mascot of this community. The lemming is the mascot (and unofficial (?) name for members) of the site.

I played Lemmings when it was new, on the Amiga, and owned a legal copy of it. Got it for a birthday or Christmas one year. I remember the vinyl record style packaging that folded out and had the floppy disk holder inside, though the most memorable floppy disk packaging of the same type was for Chessmaster 2000, also on the Amiga.
