Whelp, I was about to bite the bullet and sign up.
Guess not. I'll stay alone.
I don't think any dating app has actually been designed to help people get dates in at least a decade.
What elsecould they be here for? Do you think health insurance companies are in the USA to do something other than provide healthcare? /s
OKCupid is notoriously a bad place to sign up anyway.

They openly admitted to experimenting on people, like hiding people's profile information, telling people who had scored high matches that they had low matches, telling people who scored low matches that they had high matches. They do non-consensual social experiments.
As someone who has tried them off and on for the last 2 years, they are all 100% trash. Borderline scam territory, and if you do get matched with anyone and get a date out of it, they are usually self centered, rude, and not worth your time.
okcupid was cool in like 2012-2014 when it was basically just myspace for dating. you could search for people pretty well. my last stint of being single in 2018 i tried it and they were trying to make it like Tinder with the swiping shit.
What advice would you have as alternatives to online dating?
Do you have hobbies that involve going outside and interacting with other people.
die alone or get covid is a cool choice
Not novel people
As far as finding someone from online, I've had much better luck meeting people in say, special interests groups or games like mmos that have a lot of down time for people to talk than I ever had with dating sites.
Meeting people in hobby/interest groups probably, which isnt something i did but im bad at having hobbies(i am in some nature groups though now). i havent used a dating app or site since 2019. Hinge didnt even exist then. Ive been with my current partner since 2019, we met on Tinder. It can work, but as a man youre trying to get noticed, and women are getting matches all the damn time so it's out of balance depending on your gender. i dont think the apps should be ignored completely, but when you get the premium subscription it does increase the amount of people you get to talk to(esp as a man trying to meet women). The pay to play thing sucks for sure, but it did work for me.
