Welcome to c/news! We aim to foster a book-club type environment for discussion and critical analysis of the news. Our policy objectives are:

We ask community members to appreciate the uncertainty inherent in critical analysis of current events, the need to constantly learn, and take part in the community with humility. None of us are the One True Leftist, not even you, the reader.

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.

If it turns out kirk was a false flag that'd honestly be so fucking funny because literally no one ever truly gave a shit about him and those that pretended to already stopped pretending. Like they'd have just offed this stupid nazi kid for nothing.

[–] anotherspinelessdem@lemmy.ml 47 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Seriously, not even his fucking wife could pretend to give a shit about him

[–] Kefla@hexbear.net 48 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I still subscribe the the theory that she fucking hated him for reasons we'll probably never know. Was he a nightmare to interact with on a personal level? Likely. Did he refuse to wipe his ass after shitting? Who's to say? Either way there's gotta be some reason she didn't even pretend to be sad that her husband was publicly murdered in cold blood.

I have a hard time imagining either of them loving each other let alone tolerating each other. Their marriage has to have been some sort of arranged thing.

and she had to go through a whole pregnancy and childbirth for the ruse

[–] microfiche@hexbear.net 25 points 1 month ago

the fireworks were grand weren't they tho.

[–] CthulhusIntern@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago

She's more angry at that comedian dressing up to look like her than her husband being murdered.

They met in Israel. 100% she's a Mossad honeypot. And yes, they do go all the way like this.

[–] SickSemper@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago

Where is your source that they met in israel

[–] UmbraVivi@hexbear.net 26 points 1 month ago

Imagine your legacy being an AI-generated slop song

I believe Kirk's assassination was the continuation of the Trump's "failed assassination. " It was another message to Trump from an opposing clique of the govt.

It's full on tinfoil hat, but it could be an attempt at manufacturing a Horst Wessel.

If that's the case the perpetrators might have thought his maga semi-celebrity status would have helped making martyrdom more easily reachable, only for that to spectacularly backfire because of his semi-celebrity status

[–] xijinpingist@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago (3 children)

It's because Kirk said, on stream, that secular Jewish people are the #1 funders of radical open borders policies. He tried to talk Trump out of Iran strikes and turned down a nine-figure contribution (bribe) from Netanyahu himself. Kirk was going to be president someday, he had that JFK magic. MOssad saw the next JFK coming and took decisive action.

[–] Jew@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Kirk was an absolute dipshit who was never gonna be president cmon now

[–] tocopherol@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago

I don't think he himself but his organization Turning Point has decent reach and is surprisingly influential, he was definitely too much of a dipshit. If someone's face becomes a meme in a derisive way it makes me think people won't vote for him also.

[–] CrookedSerpent@hexbear.net 13 points 1 month ago

This has to be an bit...

[–] MayoPete@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What's wrong with "open" borders?

[–] tocopherol@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Nothing is wrong with open borders, he was basically using the 'Judeo-Bolshevism' trope to tie 'Jewish globalists' to socialism in the US to demonize it to his neo-Nazi followers.

those that pretended to already stopped pretending.

MAGA doesn't do martyrs because they're all sociopaths, and nobody cares about anyone else, beyond their immediate utility. A dead guy has no utility at all, so once the initial shock fades, nobody cares enough to keep the torch lit. Nobody cares enough to do that, except maybe Erica, because she wants to keep the money rolling in, so his name still has utility for her.

The minute his name becomes a liability, she'll be like "Charlie who?"
